A Coffee Lover's Journal

Wow!! My blog has been quiet because I have been away, over to the east coast of Canada. We went to visit family, take my Mom's ashes to the Atlantic where her brother's ashes were put, celebrate my Uncle's 70th birthday and see some of the sites. What an adventure, but more on that another time.
I wanted to share my All Things Coffee Journal that I created with the Eileen Hull Journal Die! I posted pics of if before, but didn't get the chance to do a post with some more detail pics.
I love this die!! I already have a list of other ones I want to create, some just because and some to actually complete a project and show off some trips. And yes, there will certainly be more than one of my Nova Scotia/PEI adventures!
Here is my first journal. All Things Coffee. And environmentally friendly too since almost everything I used to make it is repurposed from my caffeine addiction! :)

I also for the first time did a video of the flip through of my journal. It's in 2 parts because my camera person aka my daughter had a focus issue and then we got the giggles so please watch both parts LOL

Part One

Part Two

And here are some close ups of the inside pages. Almost everything on the inside pages is from my coffee adventures around town and also from home (we drink alot of coffee around here) and some of my tuck spots are made from vintage Nabob coupons.

Emerald Creek brads and the gorgeous ecQuarry line are always a perfect touch!

Tim Holts's Vintage Market Alphabet and Emerald Creek's Charred Gold EP...a match made in heaven!

Of course Tim Horton's is the first page...I am a Timmy's girl!

A little mix of Blenz (my morning routine at work) and hmmm.....surprise surprise more Tim Horton's (the tiny tags are from a Tim's cup)

I used half a Th glassine envelope to create this little pocket then used the other half to create another pocket in the next signature.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I can't wait to make more journals and share them with you! On the list is a wine journal, one for my Disney trip (that happened cough 17 years ago cough), my trip to Nova Scotia and PEI.....the list is just going to get longer. This is just the perfect size for sharing memories and things you love!
Have a great Friday everyone!

May is for Moms

So excited for the new release from Wild Whisper Designs!! This is one is everything you need to celebrate all the awesome Moms and Dads out there! This collection is called "World's Best" and it is wonderful!
Since this is my 4th Mother's Day without my Mom, I haven't made anything for this day in a long time. I always find this one the hardest of all the important "days" because this was always the newest project in Mom's favorite colours for her gift.
But this year I decided I just needed to make something and as soon as I saw this collection I teared up a bit but then had and idea for a Mother's Day card. So I just went with it :) And this is the card and tealight I created.

For all the details head on over to the Wild Whisper Blog today!!

I love that I can mix my love of Tim Holtz dies and ink with Emerald Creek embossing powder and gemstones and a new David Tutera die to spotlight the new Wild Whisper World's Best Collection!! Stay tuned for a Father's Day project coming up too!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Birthday Balloons

Wow!! I am always amazed at how fast some months go especially February since it's less 2 days than other months already! And that means it's time for a new monthly challenge over at Mixed Media Mojo! This month's challenge is Birthday and the twist is balloons! Time to show us your birthday balloons!

Here are a few step outs for my project I created to celebrate at Mixed Media Mojo!

I started with a 4X4 wooden pallet made by a lady local to my city, a few pieces of light weight wood and two little flower pots. I painted the pallet and small wooden pieces in Lilac, let them dry and then went over them with DecoArt Media Crackle Glaze. I took my little flower pots and embossed them in Charred Gold from Emerald Creek and did the top edges in Weathered Wood.

I then cut out balloon shapes from some Wild Whisper paper I had left over, and then I coloured in random hearts and dots on the balloons and embossed them with Frosted Plum. To make the "stems" for my flower pot balloons I used my Twist and Style Tool from Eileen Hull Designs. I measured roughly where I wanted the balloons to sit and just snipped the wire into 6 pieces.

To make my little "Happy Birthday" banner I used the new Distress Oxide Inks to colour a manilla tag. I then used an old Stampin Up punch to punch out the teeny tags. I then used regular Distress Ink to edge all the little tags and all the letters too.

I used Glossy Accents to put everything together and it was ready to go. Here are a few close up pics of the details.

Love the crackle I got from the glaze and I attached a piece of Wild Whisper paper on the back of the pallet just to keep it closed in.
I added some of the new ecQuarry stones in the flower pot to make it look more organic. I used the Golden Tiger's Eye and the Black Tourmaline and the stones spread around the base are Aventurine.

I know, I know...I use Charred Gold on everything!! And I love it! Just look at the melty goodness!

And look at the amazing twist on the wire from using the Twist &Style Tool!

A Love Kinda Month

It's February...already! And this month is all about love and Valentine's Day and red and pink and hearts! As a single person I focus on the love I have for my kids and my nephews, so I usually get them all chocolates or something small. I'm pretty sure they know how much I love them everyday of the year, but I do get caught up in all the pretty packaging and hearts and shinyness everywhere.
I created a 5X7 Valentine for my mantel and used words that remind me of my folks, because as crazy as they could make each other, their love was strong and timeless. I still hear the love in my Dad's voice when he talks about Mom and how much he misses her.

My base layer is a piece of cardboard from my TH stash, sprayed with Candied Apple, Tea Dye, Vintage Photo and Tarnished Brass. The large heart was from an old grungeboard set I had again sprayed with the same colours. My old Scrabble tiles are layered on TH burlap, and even though the burlap has the adhesive back, I used glossy accents to adhere it because of the extra weight of the tiles. My aged flowers are sprayed with the Wendy Vecchi Mica Spray in buttecup and the red rose is edged with my Emerald Creek Charred Gold! I added two chipboard pieces from Southern Ridge Trading Company, (these heart flowers may have been discontinued but there are tons of others to choose from) one done with Charred Gold ep and the other stained in the same colours as the background.

Here are a few close ups of my project!

Once I had attached the tiles, I pulled some of the stings off the burlap so it had a more frayed look.

I wish the mica sprays showed up better in the pictures, they are so pretty and shimmery!

I just love the texture I can get with my Charred Gold embossing powder.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you are having a wonderful week!

Are You Ready?

It is that time of year again, when suppliers, designers, retailers etc get together and see what's new for 2017!! And exciting new things showed up in my Design Team package for Emerald Creek!! New stamps, new embossing powders and some favorites and these new amazing stones! I can tell you right now that yes, yes you do need them! I already need more!

I knew as soon as I got my first ever Eileen Hull die that this was going to be the base for this project!
Emerald Creek embossing powders go with everything! And this is no different.

I embossed the hinges and latch with Emerald Creek Hammered Metal! It really is one of my favorites EVER!

The roses in their original state on the left and then altered and ready on the right. Stained with the same colours as the box and then embossed with Emerald Creek Charred Gold! Another favorite, it just gives the perfect vintagey vibe.

I used EC cardstock and cut out another set from the die. The cardstock pieces I stained in Tea Dye and Dusty Concord. I used Ranger Embossing Ink through the TH stencil Flourish and embossed it with Emerald Creek Charred Gold.

I edged my flowers in Charred Gold as well. Look at the texture and colour you can get in one custom embossing powder!

You can see the Amethyst stones on  the corners of the lid and Moissonite as screw tops on the hinges. Everything just works together.

I think everyone needs a jewel encrusted trinket box! Amethyst on the corners and Pyrite as fasteners on the latch.

And the hinges work so you can actually use it...perfect spot for all the new little things coming soon from Emerald Creek!

I used flowers and some chipboard and embossed them in Charred Gold so they all looked aged and vintagey, and to change up the small ivory flowers, I embossed them with Champagne.

Thank you so much for stopping by and having a sneak peek of what's coming from Emerald Creek at CHA's Creativation! Hope to meet some of you there!

Please stop by my team mates blogs and see their incredible projects too! Grab a cup of coffee or tea and get comfortable, you do not want to miss any of this week's projects!
