Another baby!!

It seems people all over are having babies right now!! My Dad needed one for a new baby boy that a family welcomed.
So I reached for my Arctic white cardstock from Emerald Creek and my Color Bursts from Ken Oliver!!
I did one background piece with blue and green and just spritzed it with water and let it blend all together. I stamped the baby image and then watercolored it in with my Color Bursts. I cut under the bottom of the script so I could show more of the background paper that I loved.

Sorry, a bit blurry but what a cool watercolor/tie dyey background

Look at all the shades you can get  with just a few colors, Ultramarine Blue, Pthalo Green and Lemon Yellow.
And the finished card layered on Lawn Fawndamentals in navy and added two little tickets from a Stampin' Up set, stamped in Broken china Distress Ink.
Except the Lawn Fawn notecard, all my layers were done on Arctic White cardstock from Emerald Creek.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!

At my desk

I love spending time at my craft table.....I just don't get to do it as often as I'd like too. But last night I sat and made a card to welcome a new baby girl.  A friend from work asked if I could make her a card for a baby shower she was going to this weekend. I said of course!!

I had a couple of ideas in my head already but as soon as I sat down, I changed them, then changed them again LOL

I knew I wanted to use my Color Bursts, because I love them.  So I used a couple of bright colors, spritzed them with water and let it dry. And then mopped up the colored water on my craft mat with more cardstock. I now have some great backgrounds for use another time! :)

I also knew I needed to use my brads from Emerald Creek on a flower again, I just love how they are just the perfect center look. And my charm I used to add a bit of bling with some rhinestones on the ends.

I did the butterfly with my Color Bursts, let it dry and then ran it through with a my die cut. i love how it turned out! I then used the extra bits from the die cut to add to the corners of my card.

Have been seeing updates from the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival put on by Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine! Looks like it has been a wonderful couple of days out in Calgary!! Emerald Creek was in the house at booth #441, showing off all the amazing stamps and brads and charns she has! Nicole Wright Designs was teaching classes and spending some time at the Emerald Creek booth.

I really hope someday they decide to have a carnival down here near Vancouver!! Then I could go too!

Hope your weekend is wonderful

Back To The 80's With Emerald Creek

Thank you Emerald Creek Craft Supplies for bringing back some great memories!!

What did the 80's mean to you? What is the first thing you think of when someone mentions the 80's?

For me it was all about the music!! So many songs, so many different styles and for so many reasons. I loved metal, loved the power ballads, I think just about everyone has someone pop into their mind when they hear "Every Rose Has It's Thorn". But I loved the pop songs too, I still know all the words to Jessie's Girl and just saw Rick Springfield in concert a couple of years ago in Calgary. Yes I am aging myself :) The 80's were a decade of memories for me, of friends, family, losses, growing up and trying to be an adult (still working on that one), leaving the comfort zone of home and learning new things.

My first project is all about the music!! I stamped the image, Swirls #1, on Arctic White cardstock, that I had already ripped to fit half of an 8X10 canvas board, painted with black gesso. I then colored around some of the swirls in Twisted Citron and Seedless Preserves.

I printed out some of the tops songs of the 80's on my computer, cut them out and attached some of  them to Arctic White cardstock cut in the shape of banners. I attached these to small black flowers with Antique Silver Metal Circle Dots.

Distress Markers in Twisted Citron and Seedless Preserves to color the edges of some white flowers to add to the bottom right corner.

I attached the brad flowers to curled wire and tucked them under the flower bunch.

And lastly, attached more best of the 80's songs, a few music notes colored with my Distress Markers. And here is a throwback to the music of the 80's...any of these songs bring back memories for you?

I loved metal in the 80's, so for my tag I wanted to use metal charms and metallics for color.

I stamped my Swirls #1,on my Arctic White tag in clear ink, then embossed it with Fine Clear Embossing Powder. Then time for the metallics! First color,Brushed Pewter Distress Spray, then added a few quick spritzes of Antiqued Bronze. Spritzed the bronze with water so it would drip down the tag.
To create another layer I randomly stamped my Swirls image in Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink.

Used one Round Cabochon Charms and set a bluey green stone in it, took a second one and added curly wires to it.

Added a silver flower, finished it up with some hemp twine and wool through the top of the tag. I ran my twine through my Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink, then to finish it off I attached two Flower Link Charms to my hemp twine.

 And the finished project is.....

The excitement is building........

We are just two more sleeps away from the first ever Design Team reveal for Emerald Creek Craft Supplies!! I think everyone is so excited for this first reveal...I know I am. It so many mixed emotions of excitement, nervousness, fear but I think the biggest one is pride in being part of an amazing team, creating with products that make squeal with excitement when you see them and supporting someone's dream!

So without further ado.......just kidding folks, only a couple of sneak peeks here tonight. For all the projects, check back on Wednesday when the reveal goes live! :)

For now I'm just going to share a couple of peeks of what I have been working on and with.

These brads are amazing!! So versatile and you can use Distress Paint to change the color if you want too!
I am a bit of a charm/brad junkie and love how you can use them for so many different things. For my second project I used some charms that are so delicious!

The detail on this charm is amazing and the other side is open so you can add any number of things to fill it, glitter, a picture, more metal bits.

That is all the sneak peaks for tonight but you will be so excited to see the finished projects are the many ideas you are going to have after seeing what Emerald Creek has to offer!

See you Wednesday morning!

Just Playing

Has the late shift at work today so wasn't home till almost 9:30, have company from Calgary for a couple of days and work the opening shift tomorrow.  So tired, but I wanted to play at my art table!
So because I still have so much to learn on how to use them, I played with my Color Bursts by Ken Oliver again tonight. The backgrounds you can do with one simple product are great!
As you can tell from the first two pics, you can barely see where the Color Burst Powder is then just spray with water and look at all the color just burst out.

The first one I did was just some color bursts and sprayed them with water, then stamped the dragonflies with my Ranger Archival black. So bright and lovely.

On the second one I just tapped a bit of the powder onto my craft mat, spray it with water, then just rubbed my watercolor paper over the puddles and got this gorgeous watercolor looking background. I stenciled the words on in Dylusions paint and I painted the dragonfly with my color bursts and #6 round brush.
Didn't take too long and I felt better after a bit of time surrounded by my art stuff! :)

Working on some ideas for my first design team piece for Emerald Creek, but no sneak peeks on that one, not until release time!! Well maybe a hint of colors being used but not the project. Can't wait to get my first order and start creating!

Have a great weekend everyone!

On My Table Today

A work in progress!  A beach sign for my wall! Just need to attached my wooden banner and then I'm adding some shells and driftwood that I collected from my favorite beach here, Crescent Beach. I used my crackle glaze for the first time and love the effect. On my wooden letters, after I let the crackle dry I sprayed them with Tim Holtz Distress in Tea Dye and love how they turned out. Just using some hemp twine to string the letters together and I'll attach that to the back.

Well I'm back to work for the next 4 days, then a day off and hopefully time spent at my craft table!!
Have an awesome week everyone!
