Mermaid Hair, Don't Care

The beach is calling and I need to go!! I live so close to lovely beaches but never seem to get there.
I am sharing with you my first project with the Xyron Makers Program! So excited to share this with you and to use the Xyron Creative Station Lite.
What an incredible tool to have on my craft table! For this project I used the 5" Creative Station Permanent Refill and it worked for everything.

My Mermaid Hair wall hanging started with Wild Whisper Wild Whimsy paper and also the Card Pack and my Xyron Creative Station Lite.

These pieces were cut to fit the sides of the wooden panel.

So quick and easy to have all 4 strips ready to go.

I adhered my strips around the sides of the panel and for the larger piece I used my Xyron Tape Runner. I also used the Xyron Adhesive Eraser on this part, as my little sausage finger had adhesive on it when I layed down the large piece. A couple of quick swipes with the adhesive eraser and no more finger print!
To add a bit of texture I used Tim Holtz Distress Collage Medium and TCW stencils.

While the medium was drying I started work on my chipboard pieces from Southern Ridge Trading Company

For the first pass I put the steampunk mermaid face down through the Xyron Creative Station Lite, so the adhesive was on the side that would be facing up.

I took the backing off and added some metal flake I had in my stash. It adhered so nicely with just the permanent adhesive.

I used the same method with the Xyron Creative Station Lite and ran through my coral pieces and then embossed them with Emerald Creek embossing powders. Ran them through the second time so I could attach them to my project.

These are all the embossing powders used on the chipboard pieces. Mermaid Fin, Dragons Egg and Kiss of the Fairy by Rita Barakat, Taos Sunset and Deep Sea from Seth Apter and Charred Gold.

I used this idea for making super cost effective foam tape using the Xyron Creative Station Lite. You can see the original post from Erin Reed  at Erin Reed Makes. She includes a quick video showing exactly how she did it.

Adds some great dimension.
And one more shot of the finished piece!!

And here are some close ups of the pieces done with Xyron permanent adhesive and embossing powders.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my project as part of the Xyron Makers Program. I loved how much I could do with just one small tool on my desk. And it was so smooth to run through, I could do it with one hand.

Have a great day!

Final Forever & Always

Well this post is a bit late. My project was supposed to be up last week but for those that know me, know that my Grandmother passed away on Monday the 21st of May.
The Wild Whisper ladies were kind enough to let me do my final project for them this week instead. It is a bittersweet project for me. It is my last project as a Wild Whisper DT member. These ladies have been so amazing to work with and for. Their products and designs are amazing and they work so hard to bring new and exciting collections to the creative world! It has been an honour and a privilege to work with their designs. Thank you Heather and Suzy for trusting me with your collections.

Here is my final project using the Forever & Always Collection. This is a picture from my grandparent's 60th anniversary party. They celebrated more anniversaries before my Grandfather passed away in 2013 and now they are together again.

Thank you all for stopping by! Be sure to head on over the Wild Whisper blog to see more details and close ups of the project.

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

A thank you to your guests

Featuring the Forever & Always Collection, we've had a wedding planner for the bride, party favors for everyone to take home and now we have a thank you card for your guests.  It's always good to thank everyone that helped you celebrate such a big day in your life.

I used the same Distress Marker colours that I used on the wedding favor, Bundled Sage and Seedless Preserves to create this pretty card.

Yes, that little sketchy heart is one of my faves! A simple design but so pretty and you can use it for any occasion or just to say hey.

A few step outs and close ups are up on the Wild Whisper Blog for you to have a look at. And yes, you do need this collection, it's not just for weddings! That sketchy heart....you do need that too!

Have a great week everyone! Be sure to check out all the creations from the amazing Design team.

Thanks!

Forever & Always Wedding Favors

Wild Whisper has yet another amazing collection! Forever & Always is so versatile and so pretty. I love that it has lots of colour and beautiful neutrals too.

For this week's project I made a wedding favor for the guests to take home. I used the 12X12 paper pack and a number of the great stamps from this collection.

I used an old box I had from a swap from years ago (made me feel a little less hoarder like because I used it lol) to create this little favor box. For more details and pics head on over to the Wild Whisper Blog to check it out. While you are there make sure to have a look around at the incredible projects my team mates are creating!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Thank you for checking in and have a really great week!

For Your Travelers Journal

I think I have established how much I love the Wild Whimsy Collection from Wild Whisper. The dragonflies and the wings are my fave, but the seashells come a pretty close second.
For this project I kept it quite simple. I wanted something to go with the travelers journal that is available with this collection. And let's face it, we all need clips and doo dads to go with our journals. So I used the idea from Eileen Hull's video where she made clips, click HERE to see the video, the clip making starts about 30 minutes in. I used the Wild Whimsy paper and stamp set to make a set of matching clips for my journal.

For more detailed pics and instructions head on over to the Wild Whisper blog.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you are all having a great week!

A New Calendar with Wild Whisper

We are well on our way into the new year!! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and a great start to the new year!

I am up on the Wild Whisper blog today with a new project. It's a very simple project but something I needed to have in my craft room.

I created a 12 month calendar. I downloaded the calendar pages from Printable Calendars and chose the template with the room for a picture on the top. But I chose some of my favorite Wild Whisper cards from the collections released over the year.

I have a horrible habit of jotting down notes on scraps and then losing them in piles LOL So I thought with a calendar with some of my favorite quotes and positive words on it, hanging right behind me, I may have a better chance of staying organized! Fingers crossed!!

All 12 of the pages are up on the Wild Whisper blog! Pretty and practical!

It's also so customizable to suit how you want things to work. I chose bull dog clips so it hung flat, but you could use a snap ring, staples, one clip....so many choices. And the sentiments you use are any that bring you a smile, some positive inspiration or which ever ones you just want to see.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

Home for the Holidays!

I am so excited for yet another amazing release from Wild Whisper!! November 1st marked the release of Home for the Holidays! And yes, order two of everything LOL Decisions are so hard to make when both sides of the paper and the card pack are gorgeous!!

My first project with this new release is this great flip card.

The ornament sheet of paper just screams to be fussy cut, so to silence the paper, I fussy cut a bunch of the ornaments and added them with pop dots! And the small sentiments stamps from the set are just perfect to fit inside the ornaments. For more detailed pics and pics of the inside head on over to the Wild Whisper blog and check it out. Don't forget to follow on Instagram and the blog because there will be new projects up all month long with this wonderful holiday collection!

We are still celebrating Canada with the Strong & Free Collection from Wild Whisper Designs! So many things to love about this collection. Strong and Free

My first project using the new Strong and Free Collection from Wild Whisper! I love this collection! Okay I love them all but there is just something about this one...I think it's the Double Double coffee card! LOL
For this project I reused yogurt jars that my son saved for me! I was away and he thought I might be able to use them so he washed them out and saved them. :)
Here is the finished project, but for more details head on over to the Wild Whisper blog today!

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you check out this new collection from Wild Whisper!

Celebrating My Country

So much celebrating this month! My country celebrated it's 150th birthday and of course there's the 4th of July celebrations south of the border! It has been so interesting to see the patriotic creations that people have shared! So please make sure you comeand show us your summer celebration with your country's twist at the new Mixed Media Mojo Challenges Facebook page!! We can't wait to see all the incredible projects!

Here is my second project for July!

I created a textured background using an anchor stencil and Dina Wakely Gel medium. Once it was dry I sponged on some Distress Oxide in Fired Brick and Vintage Photo.

I edged all my pieces in the Distress Oxide as well.

I used an image I downloaded for my maple leaf and then cut it out of the newest Wild Whisper paper collection called Strong & Free.

Love the word tiles from Tim Holtz. This one I cut into 3 pieces so it would fit where I needed it too.

And one of the lovely Paper Dolls, doing a little curtsy because we Canadians are polite like that!! Okay well most are, me...I don't curtsy LOL

Have this great package of different size cards and used the map one and made sure that Canada fit inside my maple leaf cut out.

Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget to come and join the fun over at the Mixed Media Mojo Challenges Facebook group! Share your creations and see what the Design Team is coming up with to inspire you this month!

Have a great day!

Happy 150 Canada!

Yes I am a few days late!! My apologies! I did not get back into the swing of things as quickly as I thought I would! I was off on the east coast of Canada for a couple of weeks and then home and back to work. But now I think I'm back into my usual quiet routine!
Please make sure you come and check out the Mixed Media Mojo Challenges Facebook Group. Share your take on the monthly challenge and don't forget the "twist"! For the month of July the challenge is "Summer Celebrations" with a "symbol of your country" twist! For my first project to celebrate my country I'm sharing my take on our country's flag.

I kept it a bit simple for this one, but still managed to get a few layers and used a tool that I've not used hardly at all!

I stamped Wild Whisper images and the Emerald Creek image in clear ep on the white background of the flag and also on the red maple leaf.

Yes I do have a Gelli Plate (actually two since I do have a smaller one too) and it seems to get buried and I don't use it often. I really should so I can practice and get some cool prints off of it. For all my red pieces I brayered my red acrylic paint on my Gelli Plate an then stamped the Wild Whisper maple leaf into the paint, then pulled the prints.

Pieces of my pulled prints that I used to cut out my maple leaf and cut my side pieces.

Emerald Creek Maple Leaf Swirls embossed in clear on the white and on the pulled print.

Wild Whisper's new collection is called Strong and Free and the word stamp is from the matching stamp set.
For my letters I used the Tim Holtz Vintage Market letters (my new favorite item to use)

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to share your creations with us at the Mixed Media Mojo Challenge Facebook page! Can't wait to see all your summer celebrations!

Have a great day!
