Tag #12 - Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016

Thank goodness there are 31 days in December!! I made it!! all 12 tags of 2016 and one was even a winner!! That was definitely one of the highlights of my creative year! I still went with a Christmas one because I already knew what charms I wanted to use :) Amazing work everyone that participated in the Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016, it has been so inspiring to see all the different takes on each tag and to see how inventive everyone is when they don't have the exact supplies!

I was quite excited that I had the burlap to use. I really love it! I did not have the shadow press supplies so I just used one of my dies and embossed a piece underneath with Oil Rubbed Bronze from Emerald Creek.

Look at the texture in that embossing powder!! Emerald Creek has some of the most incredible custom mixed embossing powders!

Enjoyed the journey with Tim and all of you for this year. I think I may just have to do it again if Tim does 2017, plus I have developed a small addiction to tags!! LOL

Hope you all have a safe and happy New Years Eve!! Cheers to 2017 being full of inspiration, new friends and don't forget to support your creative friends near and far.

Thank you for stopping by!

Tag #11 - Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016

Holy Heck!! I don't think I have cut it this close in the previous 10 months!! BUT....I made it...barely!!
And I know you're all thinking, here comes another Christmas project, but NO, I had no rub ons of any kind that were wintery, Christmasy, or autumny!! I only had some that were...BEACHY!! So this is how it went!

I had coloured rub ons that were beachy and had gotten the tropical dies awhile ago, so it had to be a beachy tropical tag this month!
Yay!! I did have some cork and the cardboard to use, and for my attachments I used the Emerald Creek Angel Fish and dyed them in Turquoise alcohol ink.
I used some extra twine I had in my stash and a piece of drift wood I picked up on one of my trips to the beach with my nephews!

And voila....my November tag is completed! And now I want it to be summer so I can go to the beach, enjoy the sun and find more driftwood and seashells!! :)
I sure hope I have the supplies for the December tag LOL Or we may be heading to the beach one more time!

Thanks for stopping by and hope you are having a wonderful week!

Tag #10 - Tim Holtz Tags of 2016

Woot Woot!! Got my October tag done!! Wasn't sure I was going to pull this one off since I didn't have the supplies for one of the techniques! It took me a bit but I found a semi compromise so I could do the top layer of this tag! And I also skipped Halloween again and went straight to Christmas! I promise...next year I'll do Halloween!! I hope to have more seasonal things next year!

Tag #10!! I can hardly believe I made it this far! LOL Unfortunately I do not have any of the Monster dies and am not able to get them before they retire. But I did manage to get the cardinal die from Simon Says Stamp when I won a GC for there! The cardinal doesn't cover as much of the tag as the monsters do, so I did 3 of them and layered them!

I ran the cardinals through my Big Shot with the poinsettia embossing folder and instead of using paint, I just used my Distress Crayon to rub over the emobssed parts. Because the silver I had was not a foil or metallic, the paint just soaked in (on the very bottom layered cardinal so you can't see it), so I improvised! I glue the bottom cardinal on flat them added the red and top silver with pop dots for dimension.

I added my Emerald Creek snowflake charm with some hemp twine and just tucked the other end of the twine under the cardinal.

My little steampunk tree from Emerald Creek had to make an appearance too. And omg...I love the crazing medium! I want to do that to everything!

A little saying from one of favorite embellishments, and just cut it to fit in the space I needed it to.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my October tag! Hope you are all having a great weekend and Happy Halloween!!To see all the other incredible tags head on over to Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016 October!

Thank you,
Cathy

Tag #9 - Tim Holtz Tags of 2016

Woot Woot!! I am 9 for 9! Tags completed and on time, okay sometimes barely, like this month LOL for Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016. So both techniques were very new to me this month. I haven't used alcohol inks before really, just to dye metal pieces. The tag I stuck with was my 3rd attempt, I'm loving some of it but alcohol inks and I are not best friends yet....but we are going to practice and work on our friendship! :)

The bottom part of my tag with the gears and the pen nib.

I love the gears but I wanted them to have just a bit more oomph, so I embossed the small one with Hammered Metal and the large one with Burnt Copper Leaves, both from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies

The top part of the tag with some of my favorite brads and charms from Emerald Creek.

Love this button brad but wanted just a bit more texture so I embossed it with Charred Gold Embossing Powder.

Thank you so much for stopping by and hope your week has been a creative one!

Tag #8 - Tim Holtz Tags of 2016

Yay!! I have made it to Tag #8!! One thing taking part in Tim's Tags of 2016, has taught me is.....I have  A LOT to learn!! :) But it has also shown me I can be fairly resourceful when I need to be by using what I have to create the monthly tag!

My completed tag!! I did not have any dies that really worked for this BUT I had just got my order from Southern Ridge Trading Company in so I used my music note! Painted in Peacock Feathers Distress Paint and edged with Emerald Creek Hammered Metal embossing powder.

I love that I can use some of my favorite things on my tags. My Emerald Creek key charm that I stained with my new alcohol ink in Pool. Actually has some of the texture surfaces so used the burlap, cardboard and the cork. I embossed some cardstock with my Emerald Creek Hammered Metal embossing powder to fill in some of the spaces too!

I love the Small Talk and chit chat stickers alot!! you can make a phrase, use one already done or just use a few words.

And what?! Is that Tim's Halloween paper snuck in there too?!

Thank you everyone that pops in to see my tag and comments too. I appreciate it so much. Hope you all have had a great weekend!

Thanks,
Cathy

Tag #7 - Tim Holtz Tags of 2016

Woot woot!!! And again, just in the nick of time my July tag for Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016 is done!! Loving all the new things I'm learning and playing along with so many talented people!! It is truly inspiring to see all the different takes on these techniques every month!

I love any chance to use my Distress Sprays and I love the Distress Crayons too, they blend so nicely! And of course, it seems like Emerald Creek always has a product that is just perfect for what I need and this time was no different. I am very fortunate that I get to be a part of the EC Design Team, but I love so many of the products and I use them on almost every single project I do these days. Whether it's a charm, or a stamp or one of the amazing embossing powders, always the perfect fit for me!

I still have this old Stampin Up sand dollar from ages ago and I still love it. Embossing it in San Tropez Tan and Weathered Wood, then colored it with my Distress Crayons and covered it with the Distress Glaze.

Found this old charm from my stash (probably had it for years but it was really shiny gold and it just never worked with anything) and thanks to my Emerald Creek San Tropez Tan it is now the perfect sand dollar!

Used my new thinlits for the words and then embossed "beach" in San Tropez Tan...yes I know I used it alot but it really is the perfect beachy powder! I used my mini dolphins from Southern Ridge Trading Company and colored them with Distress Spray in Mermaid Lagoon and Cracked Pistachio and then Brushed Pewter over top. And under my word is my starfish painted with Twinkling H2O's for some shimmer even though you can't see them too well.

Very excited to finally have some of this ribbon!! I love the crinkle part of it! I dyed it with the Mermaid Lagoon, Cracked Pistachio and Tea Dye.
Had so much fun with this tag and using the Distress Glaze (that I forgot I had) and the ribbon and my embossing powders and chipboard bits. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Thanks, Cathy

Tag #6 - Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016

Whew!!! Just made it under the wire!! I really have to pay more attention to my days! I had my June Tag almost completely done, moved it to the side of table and then forgot I had almost finished! Glad I cleaned up my desk and had time to finish it up! Still loving the learning process for me :)

I did not have all the products used so again, I made it work with what I had and I find that part is a creative process all on it's own, And what a great way to use my supplies that I may have been stashing away.

Even tried one of the only colours of alcohol ink I have to color my Emerald Creek button charm.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing this tag journey with me! Have a wonderful long weekend everyone!!

Tag #5 - Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016

It would probably help if I remembered to do my post and take my pics when I completed my tag!! LOL I finished it last weekend but got busy and then had it hanging up with my completed/posted ones! I got ahead of myself on this one. :)

I used some of my favorite companies and items I had stashed away, and made sure to stay away from my go to colours of all things purple!! I figured this might be a great opportunity to stretch my boundaries and try new colours! :)

I used one of my Emerald Creek Royal Fork Charm and stained it with some burgundy alcohol ink. I inked the edges of my tiny tattered florals in Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and dyed a piece of baker's twine with the Spiced Marmalade as well.

I used some Wendy Vecchi stamps and the floral piece was from my stash, just sprayed it with some Distress stain and added a tattered floral to it and attached the piece with a Tim Holz pin.

I love the tiny tattered florals now! Once I got the hang of rolling them up...I was hooked.

Thanks for stopping by and I'm heading over to check out some of the amazing tags that everyone had created this month!

Have a great week!

Tag #4 - Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016

I am loving the techniques I am learning through the 12 Tags of 2016 remix!! Because I haven't done the challenge before alot of the techniques are brand new to me and I am enjoying it. I have been creating and papercrafting for years but I can't even believe how much I have to learn and new things are happening all the time!! I can't keep up with all the creative geniuses that I admire and follow on a regular basis!! But I'm sure going to give it a try LOL

Here is my take on Tag #4! I was able to pick up the mosaic kit and use that, and I quite love it! Used up little bits of scrap to fill my tattered floral and used my Distress Crayons for some of the color and of course, some of my awesome Emerald Creek metals!

One of my Emerald Creek Brads was the perfect center for this metal flower!

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my Tag #4! Have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to swing by next week for a new challenge from Emerald Creek!!

Thanks,
Cathy

Tag #3 - Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016

Yay!! Tag #3 is completed! Again, I try to use what I have on hand to complete my tags, but with this one I really wanted to use the Mixed Media #2 Thinlits.

Got to my local scrapbooking store....seriously just moments after another customer had grabbed the last set!! I was so disappointed in myself for not being there earlier like I had planned (but after a 13 hr work day and 3 hr commute the day before, I really wanted that one more hour of sleep!! LOL )

But one of the awesome girls there had a set to purchase for herself....and she let me buy that set and she was going to wait for the next shipment!! I was so blown away by that act of kindness...it's the people like Meghan at my LSS that make me smile and believe that there are still kind people out there!!

Enough of my rambling though and time for my March Tag!

I learned a new technique, I got to use some of my favorite Emerald Creek charms, I got to use my Distress Crayons, my new Dylusions Mica Sprays and on my dragonflies I used some distress paint and the new Finnabair Opal Magic paint in Violet Gold!

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my Tag #3!! Hope you are getting into the spirit and making your own tags this year too!! I wish I had started playing along years ago!

Have a great week everyone!!

Tag #2 - Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016

Whew!! Thank goodness for a leap year and the extra day this month!! I'm getting in just under the wire!

I am loving these tags and the new things I am learning every month since I've never participated before!! Here is my second tag...and again, I don't have all the supplies Tim uses so I've used what I have in my stash and I used my brand new Emerald Creek Weathered Wood embossing powder on the words!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!!
