After Christmas

Well it is after Christmas and New Year's and my trees are all undecorated and put away for another year, well not a whole year, just till December 1!! :) But I wanted to share the rest of my Christmas gifts that I made, but wanted to wait until I delivered the last one. 

For the clipboard ones I used my favorite stamp of the season and painted my clipboards with Distress Paint and used my new Holiday Greens Thinlits for embellishing.

One done in green, one done in red and the blue one done with snowflakes.

Some close ups of all the different clipboards (which i got on clearance a few months ago at Michaels and they ended up being the perfect fit for what I wanted to do)

After I painted this one, I cut out some strips from the TH Stash paper, edged them with vintage photo and glued them on.

Shades of blue and silver and shimmery paste for the the snowflake board and and Emerald Creek snowflake charm.

For the green version I layered the stamped image on beautiful plaid paper from the Wild Whisper Designs Holiday Style Collection

For my lovely creative cousins, I made them ornaments for the tree. Oldest is a fan of purple (she's my favorite), middle one is a fan of Supernatural (she's my favorite) and the youngest is a crazy talented knitter and loves crafting (she's my favorite) LOL

6 panels, 6 different shades of purple flowers, some edged in distress ink then embossed with Irridescent embossing powder from Emerald Creek.

Supernatural ornament made with pictures that I took the day I watched them film, and had to add a little skull ornament from Emerald Creek cuz it is a creepy show!

Wrapped a styrofoam ball with yearn and made the little knitting needles with toothpicks and some beads I had in my stash.

Winter Wishes for All

Only 8 more sleeps till Christmas Day!!! Woot Woot!!! But first it's the Winter Wishes Part 2 from Emerald Creek!! I did a home decor piece for the holidays this time. Using an old frame I've had kicking around and one of my favorite Emerald Creek stamps I now have a new piece for my wall or my little mantle.

I started with an ivory piece of cardstock and sprayed it with Distress Spray in Tea Dye and Vintage Photo. I stamped my holly branch stamp on the stained paper and then coloured it in with Distress markers, the Christmas Polka was also stamped on the this paper. I gessoed a wooden frame then painted it with Candied Apple, and sponged over that with Vintage Photo and lastly with Ground Espresso.

Once I had the holly branch painted, I took some Picket Fence paint mixed with some Soft Fallen Snow embossing powder and Wendy Vecchi's Pearl Spray, painted the white berries and then splattered my images to add a touch of "winter snow".

I painted in the swirly pieces with Candied Apple Distress Paint and a spritz of Pearl Mica Spray from Wendy Vecchi's line.

The Christmas Polka stamp on the stained cardstock, torn around the edges and curled over some thick twine to keep it in place.

Let The Festivities Begin!

Yay!! It is time for a new blog release from Emerald Creek!! Today is the release of  "Heartfelt Freedom & Festivities- pt 2" I will be continuing on with my full steam ahead to Christmas! And if you've stopped by in the last month or so, you've seen some of my favorite holiday stamps!

I started with my blue background piece. I stamped and embossed the snowflake stamp in Iridescent Shimmer and Soft Fallen Snow, I then sprayed over that with Distress Spray in Broken China and Brushed Pewter. The second layer is watercolour paper sprayed with Evergreen Bough Distress Spray, then splattered with water and dried. then stamped the Christmas Polka stamp in Evergreen Bough and on the corners I stamped and embossed the snowflake image in Iridescent Shimmer.

I also stamped and embossed the snowflake pattern in Iridescent Shimmer on my Cardinal image. I then watercoloured it with my Candied Apple Distress Marker and Spiced Marmalade for the beak. I fussy cut my cardinal out and put him aside.

I used my Sizzix Christmas Cardinal die so I could use the branch part for my stamped image. I then embossed the branch in Burnt Copper Leaves and the pine needle parts with Vintage Ivy and Forest Foliage.

Look at that beautiful Burnt Copper Leaves ep texture!! One of my faves!

I tucked a couple of pine cone charms in the branch  because...well cutest pine cones ever and it's a pine branch! :) And look at the texture from the custom embossing powders!

Just before I put all my pieces together, I attached the silver glimmer balls and the wish script with a thin piece of hemp twine and tied it around my polka layer.

Love this stamp!

My new favorite stamp is the Christmas Polka from Emerald Creek! I want the stamp to be the focal point and try to keep it simple. I did one a couple weeks ago with  red and Tea Dye and Vintage Photo and I loved that one (had more embellishments) but I wanted to try a couple other colour combos. 

I used the original color combo again because I do love it and then tried 2 others.

 

The one thing that I remembered to do with this one was emboss my red piece with the poinsettia folder before I attached it! I love the little extra texture it gives. Unfortunately I forgot that step on the other two, but will remember for the next batch, This combo is the Candied Apple Marker and Tea Dye. I used a very fine liner brush to paint in the scroll parts.

This combo is Stormy Sky and Brushed Pewter. The pewter really does stand out more in person than it does in the photos. I just could not capture the shimmer it gives.

This combo is Pine Needles and Tarnished Brass. I think embossing the gold piece of cardstock will make the next batch pop just a bit more.

To pain in the scroll work, again I just used a very fine line brush and sprayed my Tarnished Brass on my craft mat and picked up the colour from there. It does take a bit of time, but it's so worth it.

It's Time...

to start thinking about Christmas! I know I know, we haven't even hit Halloween yet, but some people make dozens upon dozens of cards for the holiday to send out! I am not that adventurous and I just make a few for family and close friends (if I even get that many made lol) and this year I am making simple cards for a craft fair. But these new images from Emerald Creek are so amazing, I had to play a little!

I wanted to keep things simple so the stamp was the focal point here. I used my Distress Crayons to colour over the image after I stamped it in Black Archival. I tore around the image and then inked the edges with Vintage Photo, and used my Distress Marker in Candied Apple to watercolour the red on the image.

 

Added a small chipboard music note from Southern Ridge Trading Company, also inked and coloured with Distress Crayons and Distress Ink.

Tied some hemp twine around the front of the card and kept it neutral colours. The plaid background paper was from the Tim Holtz stack from last year.

Very simple supplies used and made the stamped image the focal point.

I love how this turned out!
