I have taken the plunge!!

Yes....I am going to attempt to do Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2016!! I have not done any of the years before, far too afraid to even attempt it. But I decided at the last minute, that even though I will not always have all the "proper" supplies, I'm going to work with what I have on hand. So without further ado...here is my version of January's Tag!

January Tag, which I also used the Emerald Creek Dragonfly brad and the Believe band.

Now to share it on on the blog post for the tags. There are so many amazing tags to see make sure you go and check them out!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

50 Shades of....

....okay not really 50 shades but shades of grey and red and not the usual valentine! Celebrating the singles or just celebrating YOU!! Self love and self care are important too :) Time to share the newest challenge from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies

So I went out on a limb and tried something new to me.....my project this time is a Star Book. I kind of loved making it and can see that it would be a great gift for a new Grandma/Grandpa or Auntie/Uncle with pics on each section or for a best friend to remind them how important they are too you. So many ways to do this one again.

I started by doing all my cutting and putting together the outside layers, then worked on my inside panels.  Word of caution, put everything else together and add your inside panels last, especially if you have anything that isn't flat!

Front cover of my star book. The black and red background was done with Decoart Fluid Acrylics brayered on my Gelli Plate, and the heart pattern is done with Emerald Creek Heart brads (just pressed them into the paint to leave the print).

The back cover done the same way, also used Small Talk from Tim Holtz around the edges.

And this the book tied open with the ribbon. The ribbon started out as a really bright red, but I didn't like it because I grunged up my other reds with Hickory Smoke. So I ran the ribbon across my Black Soot ink pad to stain it.

There are 6 separate sections, 3 I had done in pastelly colors and 3 are done in the red/gray theme.

Thank you for stopping by and checking out this month's project for Emerald Creek. Don't forget to get your entry in for the challenge and get a chance to win a $25 gift certificate for your very own Emerald Creek supplies!!

We Are On Our Way

.....please come and join on us for the new adventure!!

It's CHA time!!! How exciting is that!! Well for Emerald Creek it's beyond exciting!! Our talented leader is at her first ever CHA....I believe it is the first of many!! And more exciting news....the amazing Nicole Wright is releasing her first set of designs of her own quarterly releases too!! Seriously....is it any wonder I can't take my eyes of my Instagram and Twitter and all things that will connect me to the crazy goodness happening!?

But the reason we're here today is to see some of the amazing products that Emerald Creek and Nicole Wright Designs have for you!!

My project is actually two....a set of two 12X12 canvasses. As you'll see from the finished product, this was a very emotional project for me and I'll admit, I had to stop sometimes because the emotions and tears were overwhelming for. Kim, our wonderful leader, had said we could choose our topic for our CHA pieces....so I chose my parents because I think they had a true love story that wasn't long enough and there were so many great pieces from Emerald Creek and new designs from Nicole that fit my project.

My parents wedding colors were yellow and white, yellow roses were delivered to my Mom on every anniversary for 39 years.

We all know how much I love the Soft Fallen Snow Embossing Powder and yes I used it again! :) I wanted to add some sparkle to the white flowers

I love the charms from Emerald Creek!! The handsome guy inside the Prize Cameo Charm is my son.

These charms are the gorgeous Round Cabochon Charms, I love that they look like little pocket watches! In these ones are myself and my daughter.
I cut out the flourishes and then embossed them with the Burnt Copper Leaves powder, it is such a rich color and I love the texture!
My Mom and Dad, my sister, brother and I and my two nieces, two nephews and my babies (although they are not babies, they are 22 (daughter) and 20 (son)

The sheet music on the background of this one is my parent's wedding song "We've Only Just Begun" by the Carpenters. I used Distress Inks in Tea Dye and Vintage Photo for color.

On my second piece I was fortunate enough to have access to the brand new stamp set Fallen Blossom from Nicole Wright Designs and was able to use it on this. It was perfec timing since I felt like I was missing something, then we got the images and it was perfect, my Mom's favorite lotion was Japanese Blossom from Bath and Body Works.

The cherry blossoms are so pretty and I hid a little Dragonfly Brad from Emerald Creek in the blossoms too.

I used 4 images of the cherry blossoms and watercolored them with my Distress Sprays. I then cut them all out and put them around the picture. the pic is my folks dancing at their 25th anniversary party that we surprised them with. In the corner are the beautiful heart brad and key charm from Emerald Creek.

I stamped my Forever Joined stamp in hickory smoke and water colored with my Distress Inks in Spun Sugar and Lucky clover and then cut them out to make my small corner border. In the right of the pic you can see part of the quote that comes with the Fallen Blossom "Remember to make memories"

The sheet music on the background is "The Dance" by Garth Brooks. It was one of two songs that my Mom always said she wanted played at her funeral. The other was, she always loved hearing the pipers, so she wanted one lone piper playing Amazing Grace. We honored both of those for her on August 17, 2013 when we said good bye.

I'm so lucky to be able to create something for my family using such wonderful products and images!!

Please check out the Design Teams creations, these ladies are so talented!!
