I Am Ready For Spring!

It's time to get creative and show us your style over at Mixed Media Mojo Challenge! Our challenge this month is Springtime and the twist is showers! And if you live anywhere near Vancouver, BC you know it is big on the shower part right now!! LOL
Here is my take on the challenge, a shimmery showery card that can be used for any occasion, even as a card to just say hi or let someone know you're thinking of them.

So in the stash of things I have, there is nothing resembling an umbrella or rain or anything like that and I had an idea in my head already. So I kept going through things until I hit my Dylusions Fronds of Foliage and used individual leaves as raindrops. I used Ranger Clear Texture Paste mixed with Finnabair Acrylic Sparks in Magical Pond. Once my drops were dry I edged the page in Distress Ink in Faded Jeans. I found the clock face in a package of TH stuff I just picked up last week and edged in Vintage Photo (my go to for edging most of the time).

I found some metal butterflies and used the new Finnabair waxes to add some shimmer to them, I then used Emerald Creek Quarry Stones to jazz up the bodies on the butterflies.

Here are some close ups of the project so you can see some more of the details!

I just used the wire stems off of some flowers I had and curled them around the end of a paintbrush.

A Distress Oxide Small Tattered Floral for the clock center.

Yum!! Look at those gorgeous amethysts!

For this little guys body I used the moissanite stones.

Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget to head over to Mixed Media Mojo to see all the incredible projects from the Design Team and share your Spring/Showers creation with us! :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Time For Coffee

I can't even tell you how much I love the No Place Like Home Collection! I knew as soon as I saw this one I was going to do a page dedicated to a few of our many special coffee mugs! LOL Yes...I said coffee mugs! Every mug in my cupboard has a story to go with it, which is probably why we can never seem to downsize the mug collection! And why we always seem to add more to it.

Here is my completed page, and to see more details and a couple of close ups, head on over to the Wild Whisper Blog

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!

I Finally Did It!!

Woot Woot!! I finally used Graphic 45 paper!! I know...how shocked are you that I have never used any of it before!? I have some of the Under The Sea line from last year, but never used it. I find it so intimidating because there is so much on each piece of paper and I see what the Design Team creates and I just get overwhelmed and feel like it is way out of my wheel house. BUT....how will I ever learn if I don't try something new? While I was shopping at Clipper Street and looking at the paper, Shamim and I were talking about it and she came up with doing a bookmark! Something small and useful because there are people who still read actual books.
So I did it tonight! I have a few pieces from Vintage Hollywood, Portrait of a Lady and Midnight Masquerade and I figured I might as well go way out of wheelhouse and went with Vintage Hollywood and used the colour orange!! So much change in one project! But I did use some favorites too, my new Distress Oxides and my go to edging colour of Vintage Photo! :) I have to keep some of my comfort zone around LOL

I did keep the project small and siimple to start

Lots of fussy cutting with these papers and you can get so many different designs or layouts from doing the fussy cut!

Look at that gorgeous Distress Oxide. I'm a purple kinda girl but I seriously love the Spiced Marmalade!

I fussy cut out the orange flower and edged them in Vintage Photo and all the words strips in the background were cut out from a sheet of paper and then just staggered when I glued them on.

One layered strip in black and gold, then the blue strips on the right, then the Mary Pickford movie poster cut out of one of the sheets of paper, two little stamps and more of the blue strips just cut up into smaller pieces.

I love layers!

And I already have the start of ideas for my Portrait of A Lady paper and Midnight Masquerade! But Portrait first since it's again colours that I don't normally use and I want to try it out. But Midnight Masquerade....lots of purple and I love it!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

Mini Journal...First Try

I had the pleasure of meeting Karen Bearse at Creativation in January and got to hang out and chat and watch her teach a class for Southern Ridge Trading Company also featuring Emerald Creek embossing powders. She was sweet enough to give me one of the class kits to play with. It's been waiting for weeks to be played with! And last week I finally did! I decorated the covers, some of the pages inside and put it all together and added some bling to it :)

Chipboard gear and light bulb are from Southern Ridge Trading Company and they are embossed with Hammered Metal and Charred Gold from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies.

I did the cover and spine with my new Distress Oxides and added some awesome charms from Emerald Creek.

On my first page is the pic from Creativation

Loving the Oxides on the kraft paper!!
Added one of the note cards from Wild Whisper's Rooted Love Collection

A little Distress Paint for the background and some of Dyan Reaveley's stamped images done in Distress Markers.
One of the pages Karen included was a piece of a map. So I did a quick swipe of gesso, then coloured with my Distress Crayons and then took some stencils and removed some of the colour.

And this page was the last of my Faber Castel Whipped Spackle with a hint of shimmer mixed into it.
I loved putting this little journal together and I can't wait to get the new Eileen Hull die so I can make more journals like this!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Home Sweet Home

It is time to see another new collection from Wild Whisper Designs!! This one is the No Place Like Home Collection and it is to die for!! So much goodness on every page and the card pack is amazing! For this project I went very simple. But it would be a great addition to any home and it would make a great housewarming gift! I found these blocks at Michaels on clearance and grabbed them because I thought yes someday I'll find something to do with them LOL Then a few weeks ago I started re-organizing my craft space and thought I better de-clutter a bit. I'm glad I kept the blocks!

For more details on this project head on over to the Wild Whisper blog and see how quick and simple it was to put together this wonderful little home decor project. Also, my pieces are not attached but you could used some strong adhesive to keep them as one unit.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend. I will be going back to lay down now...started back to work this week and I am now so sick :( Next time I'm vertical I am heading to my craft room :)

Birthday Balloons

Wow!! I am always amazed at how fast some months go especially February since it's less 2 days than other months already! And that means it's time for a new monthly challenge over at Mixed Media Mojo! This month's challenge is Birthday and the twist is balloons! Time to show us your birthday balloons!

Here are a few step outs for my project I created to celebrate at Mixed Media Mojo

I started with a 4X4 wooden pallet made by a lady local to my city, a few pieces of light weight wood and two little flower pots. I painted the pallet and small wooden pieces in Lilac, let them dry and then went over them with DecoArt Media Crackle Glaze. I took my little flower pots and embossed them in Charred Gold from Emerald Creek and did the top edges in Weathered Wood.

I then cut out balloon shapes from some Wild Whisper paper I had left over, and then I coloured in random hearts and dots on the balloons and embossed them with Frosted Plum. To make the "stems" for my flower pot balloons I used my Twist and Style Tool from Eileen Hull Designs. I measured roughly where I wanted the balloons to sit and just snipped the wire into 6 pieces.

To make my little "Happy Birthday" banner I used the new Distress Oxide Inks to colour a manilla tag. I then used an old Stampin Up punch to punch out the teeny tags. I then used regular Distress Ink to edge all the little tags and all the letters too.

I used Glossy Accents to put everything together and it was ready to go. Here are a few close up pics of the details.

Love the crackle I got from the glaze and I attached a piece of Wild Whisper paper on the back of the pallet just to keep it closed in.
I added some of the new ecQuarry stones in the flower pot to make it look more organic. I used the Golden Tiger's Eye and the Black Tourmaline and the stones spread around the base are Aventurine.

I know, I know...I use Charred Gold on everything!! And I love it! Just look at the melty goodness!

And look at the amazing twist on the wire from using the Twist &Style Tool!
