Mermaid Hair, Don't Care

The beach is calling and I need to go!! I live so close to lovely beaches but never seem to get there.
I am sharing with you my first project with the Xyron Makers Program! So excited to share this with you and to use the Xyron Creative Station Lite.
What an incredible tool to have on my craft table! For this project I used the 5" Creative Station Permanent Refill and it worked for everything.

My Mermaid Hair wall hanging started with Wild Whisper Wild Whimsy paper and also the Card Pack and my Xyron Creative Station Lite.

These pieces were cut to fit the sides of the wooden panel.

So quick and easy to have all 4 strips ready to go.

I adhered my strips around the sides of the panel and for the larger piece I used my Xyron Tape Runner. I also used the Xyron Adhesive Eraser on this part, as my little sausage finger had adhesive on it when I layed down the large piece. A couple of quick swipes with the adhesive eraser and no more finger print!
To add a bit of texture I used Tim Holtz Distress Collage Medium and TCW stencils.

While the medium was drying I started work on my chipboard pieces from Southern Ridge Trading Company

For the first pass I put the steampunk mermaid face down through the Xyron Creative Station Lite, so the adhesive was on the side that would be facing up.

I took the backing off and added some metal flake I had in my stash. It adhered so nicely with just the permanent adhesive.

I used the same method with the Xyron Creative Station Lite and ran through my coral pieces and then embossed them with Emerald Creek embossing powders. Ran them through the second time so I could attach them to my project.

These are all the embossing powders used on the chipboard pieces. Mermaid Fin, Dragons Egg and Kiss of the Fairy by Rita Barakat, Taos Sunset and Deep Sea from Seth Apter and Charred Gold.

I used this idea for making super cost effective foam tape using the Xyron Creative Station Lite. You can see the original post from Erin Reed  at Erin Reed Makes. She includes a quick video showing exactly how she did it.

Adds some great dimension.
And one more shot of the finished piece!!

And here are some close ups of the pieces done with Xyron permanent adhesive and embossing powders.

Charred Gold by Emerald Creek and Deep Sea.

Thank you for stopping by to check out my project as part of the Xyron Makers Program. I loved how much I could do with just one small tool on my desk. And it was so smooth to run through, I could do it with one hand.

Have a great day!

Mermaids and Sparkle

Do you love mermaids? Do you love sparkle? Do you love vinyl?
If you answered yes to any of these, then this is the blog hop for you! Make sure you visit all the amazing designers to see some fabulous projects! Rita Barakat Designs and Styletech Craft have joined forces to share some great ideas to show how well their products work together.

I dug around in my stash because I knew I had this little chair somewhere and knew it was perfect for this project!
I fussy cut Rita's marvelous mermaids out and made a rough template for my chair. I then used my template to cut out the gorgeous glittery vinyl from Styletech! I used very different colours for me, but loved them for this project.

My little beach chair with my vinyl and rough template

These colours are so deep and rich!

Look at the amazing glitter on that sheet of vinyl!

I wanted to add a touch of shimmer to the mermaids. I used an embossing pen to add some highlights using the Rita Barakat Fairy Wings Embossing Powder in green and purple.

The colours shown here are part of the Fairy Wings kit.

Look at the beautiful shimmer in her hair and the glittery goodness from the vinyl

I used some TH word dies to make a little sign for the chair. The Styletech vinyl cuts so smooth! I attached the sign to a piece of driftwood from my local beach and did a quick emboss with Dirty Sand Baked Texture.

And the final product is two lovely merfriends sitting on the beach for a bit!

Make sure you hop on through to see all the amazing ideas the designers have come up with!

I normally don't do alot of Easter decorating or crafting so I challenged myself to join in the fun! Huge thanks to Cathy Frailey for putting these hops together.

Here is my pretty little Easter Tag.

Adorable chicks, pretty watercoloured eggs, Easter Parade Embossing Powder from Emerald Creek. Adorable right? Until you read the words above!! LOL Snark is my heart LOL

Here are a few close ups of my tag!

This was a technique I saw Julia, owner of The Paper and Ink Boutique do on her Facebook live on Thursday. Stamping with Distress Oxide spray, love it!

Easter Parade Embossing Powder just sprinkled into transparent texture paste.

See, I think the little chick hanging her head knows she's got drama LOL
I outlined the heart on the egg with Stickles, also highlighted some of the stamped eggs with the pretty glitter too.

Creative Reminders

Today I'm sharing my! It started with a challenge from Rita Barakat on New Year's Eve and then I kind of wanted more.
I'm sure I'm not the only that struggles with being/staying positive somedays. I have great days, but some days are hard. So what started as a challenge, turned into little embossed/foiled/stenciled/papered labeled wooden tags that now hang in my kitchen, where I can see them everyday!
There are no step outs on these little lovelies, just the finished projects and some close ups of the gorgeous texture. And I used some of my favorite companies to create these.

The little hanging tag family

It all started with this embossing challenge in the Rise and Shine with Rita Barakat facebook group.

Chipboard pieces for the background are from Southern Ridge Trading Company and all the embossing powders are from RB Magical Mysteries line from Emerald Creek

Look at this lovely texture!

I love the simplicity of this tag

Added a touch of RM Mixed Media Medium, some Ranger Foil and a TH Quote Chip

Painted with Finnabair paints, Ranger texture paste through Rebekah Meier's stencil from TCW.

It was an embossing night for sure and I pulled out some of my faves from the Seth Apter Baked Texture line from Emerald Creek.

Yumm!! Patina Oxide and Chunky Rust!

Background paper from Canvas Corp, Vintage Beeswax Baked Texture EP, AI dyed roses from TH, TH Quote Chips, TH baubles dyed with AI, Southern Ridge Trading Company Chipboard, Patina Oxide EP

Little close up of my resin roses and baubles, dyed with alcohol ink.

Yes, I am addicted to Patina Oxide embossing powder!

And to be able to hang them all, I used some wire from my stash and Eileen Hull's Twist and Style Tool.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day!

Happy Heart Day - Valentine's Blog Hop

It's Valentine's Day! That means it's time for a huge blog hop with some amazingly talented creatives!
For my project, I focused on best friends! We all have them, we love them and they need to be reminded too! Especially that bestie that knows way more than any person should, has seen all the crazy, has stood beside you and held you up when you couldn't stand on your own. I've been very fortunate to have a few of these people in my world. From over 40 years ago to 27 years ago to family that you've known since the day you were born!
Happy Valentine's Day to all the amazing friends I have!
Time for the project now!

I started with a great little canvas that I picked up at my LSS. I didn't do any gesso on this one and just layered on my Distress Oxides.

Some pretty layers and splotches using Barn Door, Aged Mahogany and Fired Brick.

Once the inks were dry I used Rebekah Meier's Skylight stencil, Ranger Embossing Dauber and the gorgeous Ancient Amber Embossing Powder from Seth Apter and Emerald Creek!

I then stenciled on a layer with Spiced Marmalade. Once that was done, I mixed some Spiced Marmalade with TH Crazing Medium and stenciled on that with RM Stencil Distressed Lace.

Here's a close up of the crazing medium mixed with the Spiced Marmalade.

I dressed up my Paper Dolls with a little foil and wings that I tinted with some Finnabair wax.

This was such a fun non traditional Valentine to create! Thanks to Cathy Frailey from It's Oddly Appealing for bringing us all together for this hop!!

Make sure to hop on over to all the other amazing creatives that are taking part!! Enjoy your Valentine's Hop!
