Island Escape Travel Journal

I am so in love with the Journal Die from Eileen Hull's Heartfelt Collection! I have finished my second one on my list of too many to count LOL
This one I am going to fill with pictures of my trip to Nova Scotia and PEI last month. Although there are no palm trees there, we visited and played on alot of beaches! It was amazing!
I've also done a quick flip through video as well. I know I need to work on my technique, but I am learning. I think I need to get a tripod or something to hold the camera so I can use both hands!
I edged all the pieces in Distress Ink in Worn Lipstick and Vintage photo.

This is the front of the journal. I used the closure tab that is cut out on the die, painted it and then attached a piece of driftwood on it.

The back of the journal with cut outs from the Kaisercraft Island Escape collection.
Here is the video flip through so you can see the signatures I made for this one.

And here a few close ups of the journal.

Inside cover pocket made with one of the TH glassine envelopes. I just cut one in half and used the top piece for a pocket on the back inside cover.

My piece of driftwood from Crescent Beach, about 25 mins from my house.

The front inside cover and cover of my first signature. Label was painted with Distress Oxides in Worn Lipstick and Cracked Pistachio

I did the TH Tropical Thinlit hibiscus in the oxides as well and the stamens are done with Wendy Vecchi's Buttercup ink and then the Buttercup Mica Spray.

the small hisbiscus were done with Spun Sugar and then sprayed with Wendy Vecchi's Pearl Mica Spray

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my newest journal. Hope you are all having a great week!

Proudly Canadian

We are still celebrating Canada with the Strong & Free Collection from Wild Whisper Designs! So many things to love about this collection. I used the quote from famous Canadian author, Margaret Atwood as my center piece on this canvas. This project can stay up year round and the quote is a very good one for these days.

Here is my completed piece :) For more detailed pics and supplies I used, head on over to the Wild Whisper blog and check it out!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to get your order in for this incredible collection!

Have a great day!

A Trifecta of Dies!

I was so excited to be one of the $50 GC winners in the Stamp 'N Scrap Busy Beaver Blog Hop and even more excited when I saw that they had some Seth Apter dies in stock!! You can check out Stamp 'N Scrap and see what they have! Great service and my package was wrapped up so pretty! I had a couple days of work left when I got my package but tonight I played!!
I really like using canvas boards, but of course I didn't have any....so regular canvas it was. I used a 10X10 canvas and....didn't even gesso it!! I know...who does that? But I couldn't wait so I just started painting. And also...I didn't even clean my brush off between colours!! I'm losing my mind here! LOL Used a completely dry brush for all the colours and my fingers.
I used Seth Apter's Trifecta die on this project and I love it! I can't wait to use the other one I got now! You can get this die at Scrap 'N Stamp HERE or from Seth's website HERE

Here is the finished project featuring Seth's  Trifecta dies, Tim's Distress Paints in Peacock Feathers, Twisted Citron, Vintage Photo and Gathered Twigs.

I cut out the dies, then used them as stencils on the canvas (the Peacock Feathers colour), then painted the dies and added them on. I used some burlap I had on my table and painted that and added it.
I used Ranger clear Texture Paste and a large word stencil for background texture. I also added in some spots some Clear Rock Candy crackle paint. Here are some close ups :)

I then assembled everything and glued most of my bits on with Dina's gel medium. I love that stuff!

The shimmery paint is one of the new ones from Finnabair called Fairy Wings, love it!

So many circles!! One in paint, one die on cardstock and one done on cork.

I need to use more crackle...on everything!! I love this stuff...I forget sometimes that I have something!

Excited to have my first ever Seth Apter Dies!! You can find his designs on his website and follow his creative journey on his blog, here is the link to The Altered Page. Can't wait to get more...I need the drips one next I think! :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend everyone!

Strong and Free

My first project using the new Strong and Free Collection from Wild Whisper! I love this collection! Okay I love them all but there is just something about this one...I think it's the Double Double coffee card! LOL
For this project I reused yogurt jars that my son saved for me! I was away and he thought I might be able to use them so he washed them out and saved them. :)
Here is the finished project, but for more details head on over to the Wild Whisper blog today!

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you check out this new collection from Wild Whisper!

Have a great day!

Celebrating My Country

So much celebrating this month! My country celebrated it's 150th birthday and of course there's the 4th of July celebrations south of the border! It has been so interesting to see the patriotic creations that people have shared! So please make sure you comeand show us your summer celebration with your country's twist at the new Mixed Media Mojo Challenges Facebook page!! We can't wait to see all the incredible projects!

Here is my second project for July!

I created a textured background using an anchor stencil and Dina Wakely Gel medium. Once it was dry I sponged on some Distress Oxide in Fired Brick and Vintage Photo.

I edged all my pieces in the Distress Oxide as well.

I used an image I downloaded for my maple leaf and then cut it out of the newest Wild Whisper paper collection called Strong & Free.

Love the word tiles from Tim Holtz. This one I cut into 3 pieces so it would fit where I needed it too.

And one of the lovely Paper Dolls, doing a little curtsy because we Canadians are polite like that!! Okay well most are, me...I don't curtsy LOL

Have this great package of different size cards and used the map one and made sure that Canada fit inside my maple leaf cut out.

Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget to come and join the fun over at the Mixed Media Mojo Challenges Facebook group! Share your creations and see what the Design Team is coming up with to inspire you this month!

Have a great day!

Happy 150 Canada!

Yes I am a few days late!! My apologies! I did not get back into the swing of things as quickly as I thought I would! I was off on the east coast of Canada for a couple of weeks and then home and back to work. But now I think I'm back into my usual quiet routine!
Please make sure you come and check out the Mixed Media Mojo Challenges Facebook Group. Share your take on the monthly challenge and don't forget the "twist"! For the month of July the challenge is "Summer Celebrations" with a "symbol of your country" twist! For my first project to celebrate my country I'm sharing my take on our country's flag.

I kept it a bit simple for this one, but still managed to get a few layers and used a tool that I've not used hardly at all!

I stamped Wild Whisper images and the Emerald Creek image in clear ep on the white background of the flag and also on the red maple leaf.

Yes I do have a Gelli Plate (actually two since I do have a smaller one too) and it seems to get buried and I don't use it often. I really should so I can practice and get some cool prints off of it. For all my red pieces I brayered my red acrylic paint on my Gelli Plate an then stamped the Wild Whisper maple leaf into the paint, then pulled the prints.

Pieces of my pulled prints that I used to cut out my maple leaf and cut my side pieces.

Emerald Creek Maple Leaf Swirls embossed in clear on the white and on the pulled print.

Wild Whisper's new collection is called Strong and Free and the word stamp is from the matching stamp set.
For my letters I used the Tim Holtz Vintage Market letters (my new favorite item to use)

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to share your creations with us at the Mixed Media Mojo Challenge Facebook page! Can't wait to see all your summer celebrations!

Have a great day!
